The old mountain tray is very good, I like it, I didn't know it was made in China at the time of ordering, I can tell Just like it was made it feels a little gritty but very durable, I've had no problems with it. I enjoy collecting cast iron parts, but for cooking I like to buy Lodge Cast Iron items made in the USA. They are well made and very smooth. The pre-treated trivet works well and is large enough to place a pan on. or a hot pot on top! .and for that I use it as a trivet, I wouldn't put it in a pot to cook meat with any kind of liquid or any food, for that I'll stick with cast iron made in the USA!. My family and friends really like this coaster, so I got 5 stars, I bought a lot of them to give as gifts! .Thank you DD
