Make sure you don't need a locking mechanism

We bought this for the locking mechanism. Sometimes we need cats in the basement; sometimes not. We've been using it for half a year. ADVANTAGES: 1. This is an easy installation.2. The locking mechanism is easy to understand. Cats may (1) board and disembark, (2) board and disembark, (3) not board and disembark, or (4) neither board nor disembark. CONS: 1. THE LOCKING MECHANISM IS NOT PROTECTED FROM CATS. My cats could crash into the door if it was locked and the door would pop out from under the magnet and open. They could use their paws to control and lock the chutes, resulting in our oldest cat being locked in the basement for at least 24 hours without food or water, spending several hundred dollars on a vet to hydrate her care and treat, and most guilty nanny ever. We warned them that our cats could use door handles, but didn't know at the time that they could work with pet door locks. By the way, our cats are not polydactyly - any cat can open this door. We have since seen our younger cat locking older cats in the basement with sliders with her paw. I want to joke.2. The heating sucks. It was pulled out by one of our cats as she unlocked the door with her paw. CONCLUSION It's cheap, and if you remove the locking mechanism so your devil cat can't lock other cats in the basement, this becomes a cute little cat door. . Just don't take the lock. I don't think my cats are smarter than other cats. I find the cat flap is not as burglar-proof as it should be.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Don't really like it, it's ok
