There are already great reviews for this system so I will only comment on what influenced our purchase decision. Sound quality was of paramount importance to us, and these devices have excellent sound. My husband has a hearing problem and loves this phone system. Second, we needed a lot of extensions because we have a big house and we were always running from room to room to answer the phone. Third, we wanted an intercom for the same reason — not to run from room to room to ask someone a quick question. Some reviewers noted that the phones have numbers instead of names, so the intercom isn't that useful. We used a simple technique to overcome this, we made a list of phone numbers (1-12) and their respective locations. We then printed out the lists and taped a list to the back of each phone. We've also included an ID number on the back of each tube. This helped us use the intercom and also helped us get our lost handset back to where it was supposed to be. The right headset can also improve audio quality for the hard of hearing. Unlike many systems on the market, these phones have headphone jacks! They combine well with the Plantronics HW261N binaural headset. This headset has a quick disconnect function that allows you to combine it with different cables to connect to different types of phones. A phone in this AT&T system requires a Plntronics cable 43038-01 - 2.5mm quick connect. I was a bit concerned that the automatic response time wouldn't be enough, but that's not a problem. We love the global directory of phone numbers. It is ideal for home users. My only criticism is that the system manual could have been better. Expect to play around with the phone a bit to learn how to use it.
