It took 60-90 minutes from start to finish. It was well packaged and the wood is smooth. All of my wood pieces were pencil marked and most of them were faded pencil marks so it was a little annoying to match. You can see it in the picture with the sticker arrow, the pencil marks are barely visible. The stickers that are usually pasted on the furniture you assemble are much more durable. However, the guidelines still provided support for what each point referred to. My cats have had simple wall shelves for a number of years. While they love it, we've been talking about updating them for a while and this was the perfect place to start. They liked it straight away and even the 2 who don't normally hang on the wall like it now. Everything is very solid. My husband added an extra support brace at one point just for himself, but it definitely wasn't necessary. If your cat loves being on top, this is such an easy way to make their life even better. . You can climb up to spot new people/animals, or run away from children or dogs. Great place to sleep. Or, if you have the same ones as mine, it really improves the zoom lenses they get at 3am.
