Review on 🌿 AMERICAN CREW Tea Tree 3-in-1: Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash by Beth Martin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Impressive shampoo action and menthol smell is great but otherwise so-so

If you like the smell of menthol (like me) you will love the smell of this product. It has a very strong menthol/mint smell and is the most noticeable feature. Alone, 3-1 works great as a shampoo; as soon as you start rubbing it into your hair, it immediately foams up and you'll quickly have tons of foam on your head. It really gives you the temptation to just wash your face with the lather from your hair and skip the washcloth. Unfortunately, the product doesn't work any better than the shampoo. As a conditioner, it pales in comparison to American Crew's standalone Tea Tree Conditioner. 3-1 leaves the hair barely conditioned and sometimes itchy when touched against the skin. On the other hand, American Crew's air conditioning works much better. Unfortunately, 3-1 is not an adequate replacement for air conditioning. As a body wash, 3-1 is also of questionable effectiveness. When rubbed into skin with or without a washcloth, it does not lather well. It also tends to leave the skin a little rubbery and doesn't feel hydrated. It removes dirt and grime well, but I've had instances where it didn't remove all and I had to give a second rub or wash in the sink again during the shave. Finally, I don't think there are really decent 3-1s on the market. I've tried a few and while this one was definitely the best, it still doesn't live up to its standalone counterparts. If, like me, you love American Crew products, I recommend that you simply purchase individual products and accept the higher cost and somewhat inconvenience of having everything in separate bottles.
