I haven't used an "upgraded" hair straightener in over 10 years. Until now I didn't know about "ionic" technology or that rectifiers involve vibration. I have fairly thin and dry hair so I rarely use a straightener and use a lot of products to keep my hair healthy. My hair has never looked healthy so I figured I could start using a flat iron if my hair still looks damaged. I'm glad I have these! My hair really looks a lot better now that I'm using it. The "ionic" properties also seem to be right - my hair really does hold onto the moisture better now. The vibration is a very nice feature too, it helps prevent sticking when you run it through your hair. And no, it doesn't vibrate all the time; It only vibrates when you clamp it together. You can also turn off the vibration feature by pressing the power button (pressing and holding turns it off). In fact, the power button and display are my only complaints. It is inconvenient to put your fingers in the hair straightener to adjust the temperature and turn the device on and off. The product would be perfect if they just moved the buttons and display to the top of the device instead. For those interested, it took a total of 1 minute and 7 seconds for the device to heat up to 450°F. It then took 1 minute and 44 seconds to cool the device down to 190°F.
