Words cannot describe how much I love this remote control. My master bedroom is on the second floor of my house and it's much, much warmer up there than downstairs (heat definitely rises). summer or winter. I ended up buying a ceiling fan (Westinghouse) and decided to take this remote with me. It hangs in a bracket on the wall and I never have to take it out because it can get lost in the clutter on my bedside table. Why? Because I've configured it to automatically start the fan when the temperature rises above 69º (my arbitrary setting - you can choose your own). It also adjusts the speed so I don't need it. After installing it I was able to ask an electrician to remove the circuitry from the fan because I would never need it. He installed a wall switch to turn it off completely because, as he said, sometimes the batteries in the remotes run out and I have the option to turn the light/fan off from there if I ever need to. One odd little quirk is that every now and then the light will inexplicably flash or turn on for a split second. From what I understand this may be due to the trickle of current going from the wall switch to the fan and I'll ask the electrician about that next time he's here for another reason. As far as I can tell, this has nothing to do with the remote control and is a bit annoying. I just get up, press the yellow button and turn the light off again. This remote was a great investment and I highly recommend it.
