Review on Iplusmile Mooring Tools Wooden Portable by Heather Shaw

Search the internet for a metal "Upgrade " sign.

I have not yet used (or assembled) the tool. The material and details were as shown in the picture. The order arrived in good condition and within a reasonable time frame. The tool looks like it will get the job done as intended if used with care. The lack of building instructions prompted me to go online. I've been building models for many years, so I figured out the assembly method. It's not that hard to find out. But I've also made mistakes in working with such assumptions. I wanted to test my "assembly method". I found a video on YouTube. I won't provide a link, but I'm looking for a "Dead Eye Mooring Tool". Watch the video of the poster, whose initials are BDBD, showing the basic structure of the instrument. (I was correct in my assumptions.) His video suggests replacing the center pieces with thin pieces of metal. This allows for better placement of small dead eyes. This action offers a stronger and more interchangeable tool option. (Multiple reviews have shown that these parts break easily. This will fix the problem.) BD also offers other tips and modifications that seem to improve the tool. You'll need a few more (and different) screws, but a small expense at your local hardware store. Some of them may be on your desktop. I think these modifications (including the metal plate and hardware) and the inclusion of assembly and usage instructions will improve my opinion of this tool. Yes changes will likely increase the cost of the device but I think the cost will result in a slight price increase to make this tool top notch.

Pros
  • Small size and reasonable weight.
Cons
  • Discontinued model
