We think paper bowls are practical for everyday use. I don't usually buy square paper plates, but they were quite reasonable and I decided to give them a try. They are solid and have been solid for my needs so far. The rim forms a rim that keeps the food well on the plate and prevents liquid foods from rolling away. They stand up to erasure and reuse (if you like it). I mean if it's just me and I've used it to pick up sandwich crumbs I wipe it off and use it again. Sometimes I use a regular plate, but more often I like to use a paper plate. Anyway, I like having them on hand and they've been good so far. No complaints. Basically, price is what counts when I make a decision (and that they're not far-fetched). .
