The compact binoculars that I would like to buy from home for life for animal observation, binoculars for day hikes, but also for concerts, I have right under the Magnified and for travel, how to look at architectural features. I bought 3 highly rated binoculars: 1) Swarovski 46201 CL 8x25 pocket binoculars for $819, 2) Zeiss Terra ED 8x25 pocket binoculars for $350 and 3) this Leica Trinovid BCA 8x20 binocular with case for $457. I wear glasses so good eye relief is very important and it was immediately apparent that the Zeiss Terra didn't offer that. The other two binoculars were AMAZING! The Swarovskis were a little heavier at 12 ounces, but felt more comfortable in the hand and had a slightly better field of view. But ultimately I decided to keep the Leica Trinovid because it delivers the same incredible clarity and brightness as the Swarovski, even in low light, and it's very compact and light at just 7.5 ounces! They say the best binoculars are the ones you actually use, and I don't think about tossing this little guy in my bag or backpack for a walk. As I was bouncing back and forth between Swarovski and Leica trying to decide which had the best optics, I just looked at the $362 price difference and made my decision!
