As others have said this is a really customizable stand. It's also much stronger than my previous rack, which bolted directly to the frame. At one point a bolt on the old post broke and I was never able to replace it. Looking back, I could probably find a replacement screw at a hardware store, but that was a few years ago. Since then I've been using a backpack. But lately I go shopping by bike and so much groceries fit in a backpack. This rack seems perfect as it has an exceptional carrying capacity. Another thing I love about this rack is that it can be quickly removed and installed without tools. This is good because when I go shopping I need it, but in most other cases it can be a hindrance. Because? The seat post on the bike should flex a little. It absorbs vibration and shock so your back doesn't have to. Using this post will make the seat post stiffer. However, I can solve this problem. I have already rearranged the side posts of the luggage rack so that they bend a little. The only other issue has more to do with my height. I had to raise the bike seat a bit and now it's a little harder for me to get on and off the bike. It might actually mean better posture so I'll try, but if I was going down a steep path the trunk would be an issue because I couldn't fold the seat down. Luch is pretty close to my hoop. I could change the beam a bit to lower the seat another half inch. For now I removed the center screw to give a little more clearance. There are three screws that prevent the strut from sliding back and forth on the beam. You really only need the first and last screw. The middle one is near the top of the tire so removing it helps. But today I'm going to do a test drive. Worst case I buy replacement bolts for my old rack to lower the seat. I will have this rack handy if I need to carry a heavy weight and will use the rack if I need to carry a minimal load (spare tube/tire, pump, tools).
