Review on APEC Water Systems ROES-UV75-SS Top Tier 75 GPD 6-Stage Ultra Safe Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filter System with Violet Sterilizer, Stainless Steel UV Housing, White by Rachel Williams

Used the system for 5 months. It was a great system, installation was easy except the new homes didn't use PEX piping and had to spend $50 on fittings and such to get everything right. If you had standard valves under the sink it would be a no-brainer! The only regret I have about working with this system, which I get angry about every time I pour two consecutive glasses of water, is that the first glass is at room temperature and the second glass is so hot from the ultraviolet always on that it is almost impossible to drink! I took the temperature readings and it's an amazing 16 degrees difference! If APEC had taken the extra time to install a flow switch to only turn on the UV during water use, this would not have been an issue. I contacted APEC and the first solution recommended to me was to just pour!?!? For real? Am I paying for a "better system" and paying to use the life of the filter and am I going to let it go down the drain? I asked if they sell a flow switch that I could install on the system and they said they don't offer it with a switch and so I regret I didn't go with the Ispring block where I mean had doubts. The second solution suggested to me was to replace the UV lamp as well as the power supply, I accepted it, replaced it and unsurprisingly I still had the same results. I just reconciled myself to having to drink hot water. Shame as the water quality is fantastic and definitely beats the Brita water filter I've been using for over 10 years! If I had bought it a long time ago, it would have paid for itself in my savings on changing filters! Overall a good system, just wish APEC would test the product themselves and find this flaw. Please fix this APEC, I really want to love this system 100%! **UPDATE 08/22/15** After I posted my hot water review, Benson at APEC contacted me to further resolve the issue. He sent me instructions on how I could easily re-route the plumbing lines on my keg to place the UV light at the inlet of the filtration system rather than the outlet of the faucet. As a result, the hot water generated in the UV chamber now has enough time to cool down as it passes through the filter stages and into the collection tank, rather than staying directly at the point of use. Such a simple solution! I no longer have hot water on the tap! He even sent me an extra set of filters to swap out at the same time. I have included instructions on how to change the feeder route as he told me in case anyone else wants to make this change to their system. I asked Benson if this would be a redesign of the system for future customers, he couldn't provide an answer but I stressed that I think it should be!
