See other reviews under my ID for horrible problems I've had with several other desktop filters that Revain still sell, including quite expensive ones. this. I have only considered those using good 10 x 2.5" standard cylinder cartridges due to wide range of filtration efficiencies and price. First impression - only used a week: first class product. Body and diverter valve are of correct construction .Body and base are tight fitting plastic threads that hold the o-ring in a molded recess to prevent the connection from leaking like most cheaper filters.The valve is all metal (cheaper ones are part plastic, wear out and leak quickly ) match my faucet thread perfectly, don't go through and have a more convenient design of a retractable tongue held in place by the pressure of running water.Once you turn off the water, the spring automatically returns it to an unfiltered position, and we, absent - People of common sense, do not waste the filter capacity if we do not need it (due to deposits in the V valve) that has been working without problems for more than a dozen years. ka made in Phoenix, Arizona, which appears to be a big improvement over the usual china. My only niggles are 1) the $100 price tag is a lot for the plastic housing, filter cartridge, valve and little hose (Ametek was about $30 in the late 80's) and 2) the Revain list has a pretty good one complete description of the filter cartridge. but with no numbers other than particle size, so it's almost meaningless. Sounds like a good filter but I'll buy a good affordable KX Matrikx as a replacement unless they can give me the full specs. Another filter I considered before buying was the QMP603 but at this point there were no reviews and only a brief one so far. I like the idea of a two stage filter with a 5 micron offset filter on the first to allow the second expensive finer filter to last much longer, but Revain doesn't seem to sell a tried and true reliable filter. If I run into any problems later I will update this review.
