Review on πŸ’‘ DZS Elec 5A 75W DC-DC Step-down Module Kit: Adjustable Voltage Regulator with Low Ripple & High Power Output by Gary Revils

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice little voltage and current regulator

Buck regulator, meaning the output voltage has to be lower than the input voltage. Based on the XLSemi XL4015 IC, so it's rated for 6A/75W output power with proper cooling. On delivery the supplier says to limit the current to 3A / 35W. Much more efficient than older style regulators. High quality circuit board with solder connections and screw terminal blocks. Everything very compact. Status LEDs to indicate the current status: constant current or constant voltage (red LED). The other two LEDs are labeled: Full ON (green) and Charge (blue). It seems that Full ON means that the input voltage and output current are below the set limits. Charging starts when the output current limit is reached. Maybe these LEDs will be useful if the module is used in a charging circuit. Would probably give this one 5 stars except the 4 brass posts are missing and the voltage and current limit potentiometers aren't marked which is which. The input and output terminals are labeled and the description of the LEDs is printed on the back. Slightly high price compared to some other Asian electronic mini modules, but works well enough.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Hard to tell
