These little pads are really magical! We have a tray for our two cats in the dining room. Here it suits the house, but I'll admit it's a bit difficult. We keep it in the Good Life USA pet litter box (https://www.amazon.com/GOOD-LIFE-USA-Enclosure-Nightstand/dp/B085XQNYC3/?th=1) and use one of those magic pads on the door. The dining table is 6-8 meters away and we don't smell anything! Since we have two cats that share the same litter box, I change the liners every week instead of every two as recommended. I've found that if I leave the pad on for two weeks, the smells start appearing in the second week. However, these pads are quite cheap and worth the money.
