Review on Black Finish Kotobuki Traditional Japanese Thread Scissors with Short Blade by Shantel Griffin

Not the best for sewing but well done

I sew a lot so I cut a lot of thread. I always cut the threads on my sewing machine. I have several different cutting scissors and wanted to try these traditional Japanese style scissors. They're well made, with a nice and sharp grind when you apply pressure, and the contact is even and smooth over the entire area, but there are a couple of reasons I did this. doesn't like her to sew. The pressure when squeezing the handles is much heavier/stronger than typical sewing scissors. Also, the shape of the tip is much more blunt, making it difficult to approach and reach the single strand that needs careful trimming, which slowed me down. I'm sure the blunt shape makes the tip of the scissors stronger and more durable, but I need to get to the thread quickly. Another issue others may not have is the pressure required to cut. It's literally twice as hard to compress. I probably edit a few thousand times a day when working on a large project, and easy compression is really important. Also, the area where you hold the scissors is not as comfortable as regular sewing scissors. These are really good scissors, they are sharp and well made, but I'm not sure if they really are the best for sewing machine work. I know people use these types of scissors for other types of cutting and I'm sure they will be good for that. They are precise, have a good grind and a thick, durable blade.
