My other devices stopped working after about a year but each only worked for a day so it was very important for me to find a more efficient and longer lasting device. - Long-lasting battery. These devices definitely have it; I can easily get a week of it. The vibration is strong, the sound is loud and clear, but I can't judge the effects of static electricity on my dogs. The protrusions/spikes are too short to evoke a response when absolutely necessary and there are no options for longer ones. My house has a large lot, but it's close to the road, so it's important that I can correct my dogs if they get too close to the road. I also have chicks that need to stretch their legs occasionally, and a very enthusiastic blue healer who loves to "play" with these chicks. Again, Shock is very important to me, especially with my healer because she's so focused on the chickens that it's almost impossible to break that focus. (Note: I've lost a lot of chickens/turkeys/ducks to them. I don't recommend a free range foul if you have a herd breed. It's not their fault, it's my fault, but I digress.) The range of this product is absolutely normal. I wish it was a little longer. I can't figure out that it actually goes to 650 yards because I have a hard time getting 250 yards out of it. I would recommend because the price is great and if you have a short/fine haired dog.
