Review on ๐Ÿฒ Secura 6-Quart Electric Pressure Cooker Stainless Steel Steam Rack Steamer Basket Insert Set by Sean Bouchard

excellent basket; Unfortunately it has crappy handles

I bought this steamer set to use in my 6 liter pressure cooker. It fits perfectly and works great as a steamer. I love not having to deal with those foldable lotus flowers that are fragile and difficult to clean. You can use it with or without a stand, which I like. I like options. The metal feels solid: it's thicker and has fewer but more steam holes than the folding version. I also like the straight sides which have a few holes for steam to pass through but are strong enough to hold the food inside. This design is great for the meals I cook on my electric PC. My only criticism is the handles. First I have to say that they are the right thickness and weight for the weight of a loaded steamer basket. I just think they are badly designed. We cooked a meatloaf in this steamer and found that once it was unplugged from the computer, it was impossible to place the whole meatloaf on a serving plate because the handles blocked the top. No problem, we decided to just serve straight from the basket. Well, it was still incredibly difficult to get the wedges because the handles got in the way of our attempts to enjoy dinner. It was very inconvenient to get a knife or spatula to dig up our meatloaf. No matter how we stack these damn things, they won't get out of the way. As for cleaning, the surface of the counter is perfectly cleaned. But the handles got in the way again when I tried to clean the inside. However, apart from being uncomfortable to wipe the inside, after a few uses it became shiny without discolouring. Unfortunately, while attempting to dry the outside of the steamer, I cut myself on the end of a handle where it protrudes from the side of the pot. I think the edge of the handle could be rounded somehow or maybe made longer and then bent back to avoid a raw edge. It's an amazingly sharp piece of metal, ready to snag your rag and skin if you try to get close to it. And there are four of them hiding outside the pot. I give this product five stars for the basket, one star for the handles, which is an average of three stars. I've included some photos of the kitchen towel in the basket so you can see the handles better. TL/DR: The steam basket is great, the handle is poorly designed and poorly finished.
