The problem with replacing dash lights (bulbs on a 21st century Subaru - like a 1933 Buick) is that when using 12 volt bulbs you may find that the car system normally the electrics run on 13.5 volts, when charging lightbulbs that are really designed for 12 volts will burn out in a couple of months. These 14 volt bulbs are bright enough for test lights and have been working for three months now. Since the retailer is charging $8 for the bulb, including the small piece of plastic that holds it, saving the plastic and replacing the bulb is an economical alternative.
