I've had one of these for years and have used it in a car without heated seats. A new machine, so it was transferred for use as a heating pad. Works great in the winter to keep the sheets warm on a cold night or I use it all year round when I've been doing too much and need some warmth for my back. If warm sheets, as soon as I crawl in, I will put them on my stomach to warm my upper body. It's not too hot there, but it radiates a pleasant warmth. My sister complained about not being able to keep warm last winter so I ordered one for her and she says it helps her stay warm.
