Review on 🌑️ 1-Pack CDN ProAccurate Oven Thermometer - Enhanced for SEO by Brittany Ross

Large easy to read dial and can be calibrated

I bought a CDN IRM200 ProAccurate meat/poultry thermometer with a very large glow in the dark dial. It has a large, easy-to-read face that even my visually impaired eyes can see (I'm far from blind - it's just that I need more prescriptions for my vision every year). It feels very sturdy and well made and I love that it's oven and dishwasher safe. This is the type of thermometer that can be left in the meat during cooking, which I prefer, as opposed to the instant-read type that can't be left in the oven. It can also be placed on the oven rack instead of in the meat to check that your oven is getting the right temperature (do not use under a roasting pan though). An important feature is the small hex nut on the back so it can be calibrated for accuracy so you know it's reading correctly. I just recently learned about calibrating thermometers and it took me at least 10 tries to get it right. I found it useful to move the outside temp gauge dial to where the thermometer reads "boil test" and use it as a visual when you turn the nut left or right. Using tongs, I dipped the tip of the thermometer about an inch or two into a pot of simmering water (being careful not to touch the bottom or walls) and if it passed the boil test, I turned the hex nut to the right, or clockwise a. When it got too low, I adjusted the nut to the left or counter-clockwise. These are tiny turns, twist too much and it will go too far. All in all a great purchase!
