I have a 10 lb Maltese and Yorkie mix that is 8 years old and she uses it. Although technically an adult, she's still very active, but I've noticed that she's finding it increasingly difficult to hop on my bed. I first bought her a set of plastic ladders that hinged and had little felt pads on them. She COULD use them, but she wouldn't. I don't think they struck her as strong. I recently bought them (about $30) and she used them every day. No learning curve (though maybe that's because I pushed them to use plastic steps) and used them with ease. The 4 levels are ideal for small breed dogs. If you have a medium to long sized dog, you may want to take 3 steps. They are definitely worth the extra money compared to the plastic steps (wish I had gotten them first)
