I have an old sm57 (like everyone else in the world). She spent most of her life kissing the Fender cab's 60-watt grille, and several times I've lured her down my Taylor's hole. Good performance in both cases. Now please drum roll (probably also with the 57 mic), I have a Beta 57A. It's brighter without the harsh grunt that smaller mics bring. A fuller and rounder "radiance" from acoustic guitars without much boom and coloration. So Beta 57A is my new stable sound? No, I've had a long relationship with TLM 193. But I'll be spending more time with B57 on guitar and finding more useful work for her. If you still have doubts about getting Beta57 or not. Stay there, waste of time. You probably spend two hours deciding which mediator to use. In the meantime I have done the tracking.
