It hurt me to use plastic zippers because I knew I was going to throw them away in a few days. I bought these reusable storage bags to minimize the amount of plastic I throw away on a regular basis. Aside from being a more eco-friendly option for food storage, I also liked the idea of saving money in the long run. Everything came as described. The two features that I find most useful in food storage bags are the stand up pouch feature and the four different color features. The stand up feature made it much easier to store groceries in an upright position compared to a flat pouch. I don't have any marinated meat in my bags yet, but I've found the stand feature to be particularly handy for marinating. Minimal mess. Yes, please! Different colors help with order and cleanliness. While the bags are easy to clean, I like the idea of minimizing cross-contamination. Vegetables in green bags, meat in red bags, fruit in blue bags and snacks in gray bags. I love silicone bowl lids! The storage bag was my main focus with this purchase. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I use the lids as much as the pouches. They were a great alternative to using plastic wrap or transporting items for storage in Pyrex (to wash more dishes). The wide range of lid sizes has allowed me to use these lids on both small mugs and large ones like a salad bowl. This purchase was a great addition to my kitchen. Thanks to the reduced plastic consumption, I feel less wasteful. The material used for the pockets and lids seems extremely durable and I hope they will serve me for many years to come.
