Bamboo sock needles are fine but not strong enough for the size of the socks. These metal needles come in sizes that are hard to come by and the metal ensures they last a long time without breaking like smaller bamboo needles usually do. However, I took off a star because although needles of different sizes are colored differently, the color differences aren't clear enough to be easily seen (at least by the time you get my age, lol) and there's no legend to tell you which Colors match sizes. I have two gauges and neither can go below 0, so I ended up using a micrometer (and honestly, how many people actually have one?) to measure the two smallest sizes (00 and 000). Now I've tagged them, but I really hope I don't lose the labels. I paid a premium to get metal pins (usually the other way around) and have to wonder if it would really be that difficult to label the pins themselves the way all bamboo pins are labeled. Even if I had to use a magnifying glass to read the print, it would still be quicker and easier than taking out a micrometer, reading the fine print on it, and then converting the result to millimeters so I could convert that result to English needle gauges . I mean. Indeed!
