Review on πŸ”§ Lippert Components 296652 Forward Self-Adjusting Brake Assembly for Right Side, 12” X 2” - 4,000-7,000 lbs. Capacity by Kimoni Arenas

Good things, but not for long.

High quality material. I'll see how they behave in use. Replacing the assembly is easier than just replacing the shoes. A magnet is like replacing points and a capacitor; They must be replaced together. Therefore, the assembly is always replaced and not its individual parts. Rule of thumb: what you do on one side of the axel, do it on the other. A pair for repairs is always needed. Update: They don't last as long as I expected. I was expecting the same durability as the automatic brakes, or at least half as much as the camper is heavier. nope Not even close. I replace these units every two years or LESS (about 10,000 miles of interstate driving). I'd say my old tractor trailer doesn't have a Pakbrake engine so the camper's brakes take a real hit on the descent, but at the same time the truck's brakes work too and they don't suffer the same.

Pros
  • EASY INSTALLATION β€” With no drive and hydraulic lines, installation is easier than installing hydraulic brakes. Electric drive (sold separately)
Cons
  • Nothing
