Review on Cuisipro Surface Technology Coarse Grater by Mark Scoggins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great graters but disappointed nonetheless.

I love my new Cuisipro graters. I bought 4: double sided for a large grill, a razor, parmesan and a small one. I bought it first because I wanted to try the surface slip technology and it works great as advertised. I also chose this one because similar Microplane models have the measurement caps on the bottom edge. So when you lean on the stand/surface your rust print is on the little plastic clips that hold the cap in place. If you push too hard I think they will break and the measuring cap won't stay (just watch the Williams Sonoma video and you'll see what I mean). The Cuisipro cover attaches around the edge of the blade, not the rubber grip at the end. Lid clips don't put any pressure on them when you rub. I used to use Microplane, but so far I like these blades better. The double-sided method makes excellent use of both directions and produces finer coarse chips, but does an excellent job. The only thing I don't like is that you clean it by wiping parallel to the blades or you sand it with a sponge/dishcloth. Parmesan I'm still figuring out how to peel without chopping, but it works great too. I don't understand why a razor and fine grater don't work as well as the two I've tried. However, I am very disappointed with Amazon for sending me what appeared to be open or non-original models. It's painfully obvious that the graters were open and hung in some light, causing the cardboard backing to be badly faded, as well as "baked" on the "bonus" sticker on the lid. I carefully try to pull it off so it doesn't come off in a different way that I don't want, but damn! Just yesterday, Amazon sent me an Emile Henry casserole dish with a surface so rough it scratched my fingers. I was then informed as it was not their fault that they would charge me $10 to return the dish. I'm so glad these graters didn't have too much wrong with them.

Cons
