works pretty well! in Mandolins & Slicers

I've wanted a mandolin to lighten my lunch for a long time. I love veggie wraps, but slicing this vegetable very thinly has always been a chore. This mandolin made it easy! As you can see from the photo, it does an excellent job with the cucumber, green pepper, and onion. Tomato? Forget it, the pressure you have to put on the tomato will crush it and the slices won't be even or edible. So this works well with any hard veg, I can't wait to use it on zucchini! I didn't use the slider/holder that came with most of the veggies because my veggies were bigger than the hole in the holder. I used it for a pickle and it worked great although I didn't use the pusher, just the support part. Each slice is thin and very evenly thick, making my wrap taste perfect with every bite! Can't wait to try it with cheese too, but that'll have to wait because I've already bought sliced cheese. However, it all works pretty well. My biggest problem with this is the size. You have to cut the veggies first to fit the narrow width of the device, a whole green pepper or onion won't fit on a slicer let alone a small scraper/slider. But for my purposes it's perfect! I think hard cheeses like cheddar would also go well with this, but I'm not sure about softer cheeses like mozzarella. Haven't used a grater/julienne but I don't see any problems, they should work just like a carving knife. So not a bad device for the price. Not perfect, but not bad at all! My real wish is that it gets wider!
