The pin must be removed before removing the brake lever! And it stays on a pin. The front exhaust pipe must be loosened or removed to remove this pin. If you have a one-piece system, it means the entire exhaust system is weakened. I'm trying to remove the bolts that hold the master cylinder in place and push the entire mechanism forward just far enough to pull the pin out, ie IF I can remove the cotter pin. Oh yeah I had to remove the right side footboard and lower the fairing on the right side to make it a little easier! I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow when I'm back.
