I've never had woven/knitted waffle shirts before but the idea is the same. It's comfortable, airy, highly breathable, and that's all you need if you want to use it for sleeping. It doesn't get very hot, but is good as a thin layer. So don't expect to use it too often for insulation as it is very loose. Or at least it is for me, and I'm 5'10" and 170 pounds. I wouldn't consider myself very wide, so maybe that's my problem. If you're athletic enough, then I think this shirt is for you suits you if you find regular medium sized shirts to be too small but again they have a lot of stretch Summary damn yes if they are on sale you should buy this the edges and finish are pretty decent and they don't shrink as much.even with washing.I'm a big fan of this fit but only because it's comfortable to wear while lounging around the house.I wouldn't wear it outside when it's cold.a bit loose for a medium one size
