I think it's really just a coin toss with these things considering other reviews. I've had mine for 3 years now and it still works great. In terms of frequency of use, I'd say I actually turn off the device maybe once a month or less. If you can find it at your local Walmart or hardware store, that's the way to go as it's usually only a dollar, but if you're lazy like me, just buy it off Amazon.
