Stopped working after warranty expired

I bought this a few years ago (particularly 2017) and have rarely used it in the intervening years and usually only plugged it in when I needed to read a drive that was pulled from another system on my main PC without opening the case, connecting power and SATA etc. I had to use it again recently only to find that while Windows recognized the drive's mount location, it did was not connected. I thought it might be an issue with the drive itself, so I tried three other known good drives (a 3.5 and a 2.5 HDD and a 2.5 SSD) and encountered each of them the same problem. I've also tried a different USB cable, and while I didn't have an alternative compatible power supply, I checked the output voltage and it's delivering the expected 12V. Apparently, a component (or components) on the interface board itself has failed and the whack. building, although it sat on my table without electricity for almost a year. I ended up buying another USB to SATA adapter which has worked fine so far (and was cheaper than originally). Save yourself the headache and some money and buy another product.
