Great for detailed CNC tapping

I use this attachment for fine detail work on my hobby CNC machine. Vectric Aspire is my design software and I have an Inventables X-Carve CNC. Rather than creating all my own designs, I often download designs from the Vectric Design and Make website. Of course you have to pay for the design, but I couldn't just make it myself. Once uploaded, you must specify the "tool" (CNC router) that will be used to cut the full design. This usually requires the use of a larger 3/16" or 1/4" end mill to clean up large areas. You then use a smaller and thinner cutter to machine the part. I prefer ball bits for smoother work pieces and come in multiple sizes up to 1/4 inch. The Vectric design software is very good at showing you the "finishedโ€ thread using the selected drill. There is usually a trade-off between speed (time it takes to cut) and detail. Even 1/16" diameter isn't enough for me most of the time, so I use 1mm Jerry. Carving times with this attachment are typically over 2 hours for the relatively small slabs (4" x 8") I typically cut. I'm sure there are "bargain" bits out there, but my significant "temporary" investment in threading doesn't seem to justify incorrect threading because the bit breaks or falls out, or requires a lot of hand grinding afterwards.
