It does insulate the hot handle from my hand well, not burning or heat. However, the edge that is on the underside of the handle, at the pan, closest to the heat, is deteriorated after only 2 weeks. I could live with that, but the texture is crumbly, and bits come off easily. I'm not crazy about the idea of something crumbly that near food. I also definitely expected them to be sturdier and last longer. I got the two pack thinking one for home, one for the RV. Now I see they wear out rapidly, and I'll need the 2nd one soon. I love cast iron and cook in it daily. Maybe if you're an occasional user, they'd do better.
