Probably ant protection for kitchen utensils and gadgets
It seals well and you don't have to remember to close it (basic failure mode on my previous salt shaker). We don't have a congestion problem, but we do have an ant problem, and that seems (so far) to be ant proof. It works with flake salt as long as it's not too big, although fine sea salt certainly pours better. The inner seal is better than I expected (silicone seal plus snap ring) but there are some burrs that should be removed before use.
