This stabilizer is ideal for 400mm lenses such as Canon 400mm f/5.6L or Canon 100-400L. Most stabilizers are designed for really big lenses like 500mm or 200-400mm which are many times heavier. In fact, this is full suspension that has been stripped down to a much smaller size and weight. It works very well, even compared to the Wimberly ball head and helper. It latches much better than that combo and is much easier to load. The only minor downside is that it doesn't roll as smoothly as a full Wimberly gimbal and the elevation setting isn't adjustable. Instead, there are three sets of screw holes to move the arm up and down. In the end, it just means it won't balance as perfectly. I recommend it with a medium sized tripod as a lightweight kit!
