I have a 6 inch beard and needed to replace my old straightener. My old brush had few heated teeth. But this one has so much more, and they comb and straighten your beard much more effectively! My old brush was heating up to 390 degrees, so I was pleasantly surprised to see this go up to 450 degrees. On my first use out of the box, I turned it on and watched the digital display quickly climb to the 450 degree mark. It was up and running in less than a minute! Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the heat dissipation. Despite the advertised temperature of 450 degrees, it was significantly colder than my old one and didn't smooth out well. And as many other reviewers have pointed out, it had an awful smell. I figured I'd use it for a full week before making any decisions. I'm glad I did. I've been using it twice a day for almost a month now. I can say that after about 10 uses the "smell" is gone. Any production residue that gets on the brush will eventually burn out. I can also say that waiting a few extra minutes for the brush to heat up helps! 450 degrees on the digital display is not the same as 450 degrees after a three minute exposure! Disappointing, sure, but good to know. After hearing this, I am more than satisfied with the efficiency and effectiveness of this beard straightening brush! Soap, whatever the price, smells good. However, it does nothing to moisturize my beard. Really dries. I find my beard washing days require extra beard oil at night to replenish my beard. see. The first photo is straight out of the shower.
