This worked well to get the Aubrey 7550/7564 working again. I had to change the direction of rotation. Out of the box it was clockwise when I needed it to be clockwise when viewed from the end of the shaft. To change the direction of rotation you need to remove the end caps and flip the armature so the shaft comes out on the other side of the motor. To do this, remove the lock nuts, and then thin long screws (head 6 mm). They screw into the rear end cap. If the end caps do not fall off after removing the screws completely, you may need to gently pry them off with a screwdriver. Be careful there are washers on both sides of the shaft. Turn the anchor over and insert the end caps. Leave the threaded end cap anchored at the back (more on that later). Make sure you don't lose your pads. Before replacing the long screws, consider how they will attach to your fan. For me, the screws had to go through my mounting plate before mounting the motor. In hindsight I could probably move the threaded end cap towards the shaft and use the jam nuts to secure it to my plate. It should still work, but I think the screw heads on the mounting plate are less likely to loosen from vibration. In any case, the point is that these motors are easy to tune for rotation and which side the screws come from by playing with the end caps. Install the fan blades onto the shaft. The open side of the blades faces the engine. My blades were very tight on the shaft. I see some people have a loose fan.
