Review on Gouache Carrying Students Watercolor Painting Painting, Drawing & Art Supplies by Gelin Battle

After watching all the Miya Gouache videos on YouTube, I finally broke down and got my own. I chose this set over the 18 color set because it includes 6 more colors, brushes and a brush tray in the box. Rearranging the mugs in my preferred color order was fun - I had trouble distinguishing one of the navy blue ones. and a black mug. Reviewers on YouTube commented on how difficult they were to clean - that wasn't the case at all with these paints. Pros: The 24 color version gives me +1 orange, +1 green, +2 blue, +1 skin tone, +2 magenta and -1 white compared to the 18 color version. At the time of purchase it was $36 which is $1.50 for each cup of jelly or $0.05 per ml of paint - compared to other traditional gouaches - crazy deal! The set comes with 3 decent brushes and a built-in compartment for storage. Also included was a white palette. This is a very good student quality - very pigmented and vibrant colors - if you treat it like watercolor and want to dilute with water it will last a long time. The ConsLid doesn't quite fit into the groove, the 2 back corners stick out a bit no matter how hard I press. This is without the palette packed inside and the color caps peeled off. I don't think it's airtight, and I prefer rich gouache colors, so I put a few drops of water in the mug and cover the top with a layer of cling film before closing the lid. In the last 2 weeks they have retained their fresh wet coloring. I wouldn't risk turning it upside down or on its side if the paint is bleeding all over it. This thing is heavy. Too heavy and bulky for travel so I spooned 3ml into the paint capsules for easy portability. I like to use the box as a painting set in the studio or at home, but I don't like having ALL the cups open to get at the paints. I love using paint containers, I just open what I need and close when I'm done.
