When your wireless connection isn't reaching the rest of your house (like mine). Powerline is a great solution and these PhonEx devices really connect and work almost instantly. I was amazed and relieved that it was as easy to use as advertised on their website and that you can actually get up and running in less than 2 minutes as they say. (Unless your house is very big and it takes you longer to get to the room where you install another extension.) In 7+ months of use I've never had any failures with the boxes, the speed has been quite works well with the DSL connection and best of all: It is fully compatible with PC and Mac. I use it in a home office situation where I have a PC and half the people I work with have Macs. You don't have to download anything - just connect, download and you're done. And that's great because most of the people I work with just want to turn it on and get it to work. They don't want to boot CDs, tweak their system, etc. My only criticism of the devices is that they're ugly. Maybe it doesn't matter because they just sit on the floor, but in this day and age of technical design, they could at least make them a little bit cuter! But at least kudos to them for doing such a good job. This is a great, simple, and reliable solution for extending your network range. Plug it in (note that you need at least TWO devices; one on your router and one on the other end of wherever you connect). Turn on your computer. Everything works. It is so easy.
