I've been looking for salt and pepper shakers with separate removable lids for a very long time but still haven't found one that suits my needs. I have 30 years. vintage large plastic shaker with durable plastic outer body and handle - includes a separate plastic jar insert with a perforated disc and has a removable lid ideal for use in food preparation. I can just remove the perforated disk and put a 1 tablespoon scoop in it. as needed. The lid fits snugly onto the disc with holes to keep moisture out. It was made in Japan. I think this pair of shakers would be good for general cooking. But since the top dispenser is an all-in-one, it won't be easy to unscrew and remove to insert a scoop. You must use the filling hole to fill the measuring spoon. If you use rice inside the salt shaker to prevent coagulation, you cannot use the spout hole as the rice grains would fall through. As for washing and drying - the top dispenser requires all water/moisture to be completely dried is between the plastic top layers and the disc with holes underneath. May need to air dry overnight or longer. These shakers come with no care instructions so you'll have to find out for yourself. The glass jars are beautiful and durable and easy to use. wash and dry.
