I ride my bike in lower New York during the winter months and my feet are always cold so I have to go inside every few miles to warm up. I wore a pair of these wool socks along with a pair of thin 95% polyester Reebok socks over wool and my feet stayed warm in 32 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour. I didn't have to go inside to warm up. The wool material is amazing, superior to cotton and polyester. I would wear two pairs of wool socks but I couldn't because they would be too tight in my shoes. I wear size 10-1/2 and size XL men's shoes when they fit perfectly. These XL socks are listed for men's sizes 12-15, but I found them to fit men's shoe sizes 10-12, not 12-15. Be sure to wash these socks before wearing. Wool doesn't have the most pleasant smell, but what does it matter when warmth is paramount. UPDATE: DO NOT tumble dry after machine wash to avoid shrinkage. Air dry them. Mine shrunk a lot the first time I tumbled them, so now I just hang them up to dry.
