Review on ๐Ÿšผ Ubbi Steel Odor Locking Diaper Pail: No Bag Needed, Money Saving, Award-Winning, Modern Design, Registry Must-Have (White) by Brian Wright

Excellent for 1-2 years, then it needs to be replaced.

For those of you that will be using this for 1-2 kids it's probably fine but if you're looking for longer term use then you should either be ready to give it a go replace in a few years, or go with another choice. I've had this diaper pail for a little over 3 years and I have 3 children in diapers so I'm testing baby products. The advantages of this tank are ease of use, simple design so it works flawlessly, can be used with standard bin bags, I have always used ubbi bags myself but sometimes used standard bin bags when I ran out of ubbi bags but i I didn't like it, like in Ubbi. The problem I have gradually encountered is the smell and mold growth in the glass. The problem arises from the accumulated moisture. If you've ever paid attention to a diaper bag, the contents of the bag will release moisture that isn't sealed at the top of the can (the area where the door opens to accommodate diapers). There are areas that are difficult to clean and rust and mold have built up over time. And the smell is terrible. We have our last baby in diapers and I wish I didn't have to shell out money for a new can, but I'm at the point where it's time to change them. I've tried airing it outside several times, but it doesn't help much. We try to open/close the door very quickly to put on a diaper but the smell lingers for a few more minutes. Also, compared to an Arm & Hammer bucket, you are exposed to a lot more odors with each bag change. Please note that depending on use we put a new bag in almost every day so the problem we had wasn't with the nappies being left there for several days, it just happened slowly over time. See photos to see affected areas. You will also notice moisture on the inside of the lid causing rust.
