The jaws still seem a little uneven to me, one is a little higher than the other and no matter how I try to adjust it, it's a little off. But the difference is minimal, when you buy a sponge filter you choose functionality over looks. And it works great. Cheap and smart, it has a biomedia compartment (which is NOT included) that you can add yourself. I'm surprised how quiet it is, definitely a lot quieter than my HOB filters. I love sponge filters and am starting to replace all my burners with them. Not only do they protect small fish and young fish, they also provide your aquarium with better oxygen than HOB filters, which act like an air vent.
