This is cheap wood. I don't know what it is, but if cork and plywood had a baby, maybe this is it? Super light. When they are together, it seems strong. I used super glue when assembling to add extra strength. The lower jaw/sides were slightly warped but when I connected them with screws and superglue they pressed perfectly against the other parts. I painted mine with water based acrylic pens before assembling and sealed with a multipurpose craft sealer with a brush. It looks brighter in photos due to the flash, but is actually slightly warmer than the tones. Standard size D4-D20 blinds with no problems. I love it and have no regrets for the meager $15 I spent on it. Sure, it's a cheap material, but it's offset by the low price, amazing detail, and durability when rolling.
