Review on Classic Vintage Blutooth Speaker Charging by Ronald Bleimeyer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm happy, not happy. and here's why

Let me start by saying this is NOT my first Jam product. I started several times with original 808 cans, why did it take me so long to do it? because they just work. Connectivity will never be an issue unless I move far from the speaker. The sound is (almost) always great and the portability has never let me down. Until now. If you have a moment, let me tell you a story about sadness, then deeper sadness, and then happiness with a bout of sadness. I have bought MANY bluetooth speakers which satisfied my needs and desires in the early days of bluetooth speakers. Jam was the only brand that was widely available and covered all my needs. They have ALWAYS been portable since the Can series. Then I found my beloved. HDMX jam party. It was AMAZING sound in a tiny rechargeable box that NEVER stopped working. One day I plugged it in to charge and it wasn't until it was too late that I realized I was using the wrong cable. It killed my speaker. (Sadness) Don't worry, I said to myself, I'll just go online and order a new one. (deep sadness) They stopped making them many years ago (I won't say how many). Serious; How the time flies? Now I have no way to restore (or replace) that friend who was there for so many moments of my life. Always inspired me with a much needed song at the right time. I was devastated and devastated. Not really. Jam continued to make speakers over time. I searched and researched and finally settled on this one. ONLY because it matches the bird bath I bought for my wife. I created the PERFECT moment when she came home from work. The BBQ was smoking with some hamburgers, her bird feeder and bird bath assembled in the yard, and then, on the table, next to the garden swing I bought her for her birthday, was the most adorable little speaker little speaker filled the back yard one our FAVORITE songs from a Steve Martin movie. They are both called "My Blue Skies", it was pure joy. When the whippoorwills call and evening draws near, I hasten to my blue skies. This is an OLD song and when Gene Austen released it in 1927 they didn't care about the alignment so the song is exactly what it is. The high notes were raw and the bass tones were annoying (a bit of sadness added here). The burgers were ready around the same time as the song. I put them and some fried onions on a plate ready to go in so we could eat. This speaker has NO handle. NOBODY. Not only that, the powerful bass we heard is provided by a large panel on the rear of the speaker, so even carrying it around with gorilla-sized hands is a pain in the neck from having to put my thumb on that panel to hold it in place . This can NOT be good for the speaker. As much as I love the battery life, it's the 'happy' sound (for a speaker this size, they did amazing) and its 'retro' look. The lack of a carrying handle really breaks my heart a bit. I've tried making a small loop with tape but nothing "matches" this retro style. In general? I am in love with this little speaker. This is the sound and price that comes closest to my party HDMX. Appealing basses, clear highs, but not "tinny", and mids are simply noticeable. WHY? Serious. WHY make it portable if you don't make it portable by giving it a grip? And even worse! They have the bass reflex panel right where we need to put it if we REALLY want to carry it around. The HARDEST part is where you have to pick it up to realistically move it. Would I buy another one? Probably not. Do I regret the purchase? Def no. The sound is great for its size and the looks are amazing, even the battery life is a huge PLUS. But if you plan on doing anything other than sitting on a table or shelf in your room, invest in zip ties or something similar and create a sling for it.
