We've never sharpened knives. We have a set of Henkel knives that have become pretty much useless and I was wanting to take them somewhere to have them sharpened until I saw the cost, about $1.50 an inch. So we did a little research, read a few reviews and settled on this one. Have you read the instructions, have we done our best to follow them, and what do you know? They've actually gotten hot again! Probably not as sharp as if it had been done by a pro, but sharp enough to cut my wife's finger on first use after sharpening. She's just not used to them being sweet and spicy. So ultimately, this knife sharpener did what we needed it to do. Our knives are sharp again.
