4 stars out of 5 because I read the instructions at least 10 times, especially when I discovered that the bottle with the activator needs to be filled with water, but still broke everything and is now unusable. The activator bottle, which has only vague instructions on it, must NOT be filled to the brim, but at an UNDETERMINED point earlier. I seem to have overstuffed it (not at the top, but not in that ideal indefinite line that only the creators know) and now the kit is more or less useless. It creates mucus, but it's the consistency of snot that clings to whatever you do. Hopefully some of the water tries to escape and it can be used, but for something that seems so important I think it's better marked on the bottle or even mentioned in the instructions than the troubleshooting part. Instructions for those who have already messed everything up. It found we had a blast glowing snot in the dark! It's so much fun and has some really cool extras! I can't wait to use it. Whenever it could be used for slime for kids to play with instead of snot, we all had to scrub our hands and bowls because it WON'T come off. Moral of the story: DO NOT OVERFILL BOTTLE!
