At Wolf by Rebecca Zanetti I got more than I expected. If you know me, you become me Zanetti. She is the queen of extremely sexy vampires and werewolves. Not only are their stories filled with spicy romance, but they also feature top-notch worlds and storylines. However, I did not expect to be thrown into so many corners in the wolf. Miya is a former DC FBI profiler with a colorful past. To please her boyfriend, she stays in a small mining town to help him investigate unusual murders. The young woman was found with a silver spike in her throat. The origin of silver can easily be traced back to a mine long owned by a wealthy and influential family. This is how Mia plays the tall and sexy Seth. Seth is suspect number one. He immediately triggers Mia's instinct that all is not as it seems with Seth and this town. Mia just couldn't figure out what a big secret Seth was hiding. Obviously he's a werewolf! We know he's a wolf. The title of the book is Wolf! However, Zanetti leads Mia about a third of the way through the book. As a former police officer, she is used to suspects trying to deter her from investigating and forcing her to leave town. Seth, his brother Eric, and all the townsfolk suggest that she leave. Some are even menacing. Needless to say, once Mia finds out who/what these people are, she can't just walk away. She ignored her chance and should not only be concerned for her safety but also for her mother and aunt. There were a few surprises in Rebecca Zanetti's The Wolf. In my opinion it's always great to be a shocked killer in fiction. We move on knowing the case is solved, BAM! It's not what you think at all. Also, there are a few suspicious people in this town that I'm sure Zanetti could branch into some intriguing storylines. Mia is the real alpha here. I really liked Mia. In fictional/paranormal worlds we have been taught to know that the alpha wolf is in control and claims dominion over its mate. This is always a smoldering method that is mainly suitable for the bedroom. I was a little annoyed that Mia didn't back down when the wolf asserted his dominance. She really had to let go of her human police savvy when she found herself knee-deep in wolf politics. Overall though, I realized it was a good choice for Zanetti and it worked for this story. Mia's stubbornness matched her character. Mia's harsh attitude towards criminals and wolves was disgusting. Can't wait to see how Mia and Seth's story ends in the next book from Stope's Pack!
