I came across this by accident while looking for SSDs for my late 2014 Mac-mini. Like most, I found the computer almost useless with the constant turning of the color wheel. I had a really hard time buying a new Mac mini since it would cost >$1000. I really don't need much of this desktop, so I figured swapping out the 1TB HDD for an SSD might help. The other issue is that I didn't want to replace it with something smaller, so I looked for >= 1TB SSDs. They're not very expensive but still felt like a gamble as I wasn't sure if it would really help. I read reviews from others who installed this unit with a 970 500GB SSD which gave me the confidence to try it. I have to say that after several weeks of use I have never seen a color wheel! I can definitely agree with other reviews that it was easy to install and really seemed to breathe new life into my old Mac mini. An installation note: you must remove the six T6 security screws. I have a T6 driver but not a protective one that takes a small pin in a screw that basically prevents you from using a regular T6. The three screws were easy to remove as the heads stick out and are easy to grab and unscrew with pliers. The other three required a bit of work with a flat-head jeweler's screwdriver. So you can save yourself some trouble by ordering the T6 security driver if you don't already have it. Again, if you're ambitious, they can be pulled out with a very small flat head.
